Just Hold On – Monthly Floral Release

Hi Friends! I wanted to stop in to share with you the beautiful new monthly floral release from Unity Stamp Company! I am super excited for a monthly floral stamp set for each month in the coming year! Today I am sharing the first set with you called Just Hold On! This set has a beautiful carnation and 3 beautiful sentiments! I am so excited about this set! Let’s get started!

Just Hold On

Stamping/Coloring

I started by stamping two of the caranation florals on Fabriano Hot Press cardstock. I knew I wanted to create a slimline card using this beautiful new image, so I stamped 2 images. For my coloring today I am using my Zig Clean color brush markers! These markers still hold a special place in my heart, so I love to take these back out to watercolor with! I worked from lightest to darkest for all of the coloring. I had fun coloring these images. I set these aside to dry. Once they were dry I used my Brother Scan and cut to trim both of the floral images.

Background

For my background today I am using one of the newer background stamps in the Unity collection, it is called Polka Dance! I just LOVE everything about this background stamp! Be sure to check it out now – it is on sale too! To create the background I trimmed a panel of watercolor cardstock to slimline size 3.5 x 8.5 and placed this in my Misti. I inked up the background using Distress Inks: Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, Gold Pigment Ink, and my zig marker. I lightly misted the stamp with water and stamped the image. I completed this several times to ensure I had the colors I was looking for. I then trimmed down the panel using a Gina Marie Designs slimline die. I also added Perfect Pearls to some of the dots for added shine.

Card Assembly/Sentiment

I always love putting the card together once all the elements are ready to go! I foam mounted the 2 flowers on the Polka dance background. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set on white cardstock and adhered this with foam tape as well. I glued the panel down onto a slimline card base. I added a few sequins from Studia Katia – Crystal Clear Fushion.

I hope you enjoyed my new card featuring the beautiful new Just Hold On stamp set! I am so excited to see all of the beautiful monthly floral images released in 2021!

Friend Stamp Set

For my first card I am using the beautiful new Friend stamp set! I love the big and bold font of the word friend, paired with the beautiful floral images! I started by stamping my image on Bristol smooth card stock and heat embossing it using clear embossing powder. I love to create bold and bright cards! For this card I used my zig markers. I work in layers when using my water based markers. I allow my project to dry on its own and continue to add layers of colors until I have the look I am going for. Once my coloring was dry I created an outline using 2 different shades of a tan/brown. I enjoy adding shading around the image as I feel it highlights my focal point. I added a few metallic splatters and adhered this to my card base!

I hope you enjoyed this one layer card! I can’t wait to use this stamp again and pair it with one of the Gray Muse sentiment sets! In Rubeena’s collection she has 3 sentiment stamp sets! You can see them here.

Lovely Lotus Stamp Set

For my second card I am using the beautiful Lovely Lotus stamp set designed by artist Alex Syberia. I love the floral images in this set, along with the sentiments.

I started by stamping the lotus image on Fabriano Hot Press watercolor card stock. I love this cardstock when I use my Karin markers. I have found this paper to work well with this medium. For this floral image I decided to keep the coloring simple by only using a few colors. For the floral image I used: Rose Pink 168, Magenta 359, Olive Black 447, Praline 385, and Gold 283. I work in layers as well allowing dry time between colors. Once my coloring was dry, I used my scan and cut to trim the image and set it aside.

To create my background I wanted to use patterned paper from my stash! I have a lot of beautiful paper and find I don’t use it enough! I chose this bright yellow paper for the background and a textured gray paper for the die cut circle. Both papers were trimmed down using dies. I assembled my card using the patterned paper and used foam tape behind my lotus flowers. I then chose a sentiment from the Lovely Lotus stamp and from the Social Distance stamp set 9the sentiments in this set are AWESOME – be sure to check them out). I heat embossed these using white embossing powder on the gray cardstock. Once my card was assembled I added a few sequins as well.

Happy Halloween – Brutus Monroe Stamp of the Month

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! I wanted to stop in quickly to share a project I made using Brutus Monroe – Stamp of the Month. This month the stamp is an adorable Jack-o-Lantern! Isn’t it cute! The stamp of the month is one of the monthly subscriptions Brutus Monroe offers. Each month you will receive a 2×3 stamp set for $5 which includes shipping – check it out here!

I started by stamping my pumpkin image on Bristol Smooth card stock. Today I am using my zig clean color brush markers to do the coloring. On the coloring today I started with a darker shade and then blended out with a lighter shade of color. I din’t use any water today. This was a fun and quick image to color! Wouldn’t this little stamp be adorable as a background for your card? I may need to try that! Once the image was colored, I fussy cut the stamped image and set it aside.

I then used a Brutus Monroe slim line stencil to create the background. I used the Star Wreath from collection A. I used a spray adhesive for my stencil and then placed it on my card panel. I ink blended using Distress Oxide in Twisted Citron. I love the bright green of this color combined with the purple and orange. I then did the same in the top corner of my card panel. I added a few splatters using metallic black watercolor paint. I heat embossed the sentiment on on the black card stock. I then adhered my card together and foam mounted the pumpkin. I added a few purple drops to complete this card.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the stamp of the month! It sure is cute!

Last week Brutus Monroe released new slime line stencils – you can see the bundle below.

Happy Release Day – Alex Syberia Design

Hi Friends – I am so excited to share 2 cards I created with Alex Syberia’s July release! The release is so beautiful, you can see the July release and all of her digital stamps in her ETSY shop – be sure to check them out! To celebrate Alex’s new release she is hosting an Instagram hop! I hope you will come join us! You will be able to see all of the beautiful new stamp sets, be inspired by the designers, as well as have a chance to win a gift certificate to her shop! I hope to see you there!

For my first card I am using the Plumeria Card Panel digital stamp. I started by printing my image on Canson Mixed Media paper. I love this card panel image, it is all ready to go to create an A2 sized card. I did want to also share when I work with digital stamps I often print several stamps on one sheet of paper, this is a great way to create multiple cards and to make sure you use a full size piece of paper.

I taped down my panel to my work surface/board and was ready to watercolor. I used a combination of Zig clean color brush markers and Peerless Water colors for this stamped image. I used the following colors:

  • Leaves: Light green 041, yellow green 053, Olive Green 043, Persian Green 033, Peacock 038
  • Flower: Yellow 050, Scarlet Red 023, Dark Pink 027
  • Stem: Mid Brown 065

I worked in layers and allowed my coloring to dry between. Once my coloring was complete I set this aside to dry. To create the background I used an A2 size piece of Bristol Smooth Card stock. I used Distress Oxide in Black Soot to create the background. I added Perfect Pearls as well for added shine. For my sentiments I used the Hugs die from Simon Says stamp and The Gray Muse – You Grow, Girl sentiment strip. I layered the hugs die cut 3x for added dimension. I then fussy cut the stamped image on the top and glued this to my oxide ink blended background. I had fun with this one – it reminds me of the beach!

For my second card I am using the Beautiful Flowers digital stamp set – slimline panel. As soon as I saw this stamp, I thought of Alex’s dot coloring! Which I truly love and can only hope to learn this technique more over time. You can see card examples by Alex using this technique – I am blown away by her creativity! So here is my attempt….

I printed the slim line panel on Canson Mixed Media paper. To color the 3 floral images I used my Tombow markers. I used: Pink 723, Blue 553, as well as added some Peerless watercolors to deepen the blue color. I completed just a couple layers of color on this card. I set the floral image aside to dry prior to adding the dots.

To create the background I used a piece of watercolor cardstock a little larger than a slimline base. I used my Gansai Tambi watercolors: Rose Madder 34, Rose Madder Deep 36, and some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Fuschia) to create the background. I added a few gold splatters to the pink base as well. In person you can see the added shine. I then chose 3 colors of alcohol markers and attempted some dot coloring! I have a log way to go, but it was fun! On Alex’s You Yube channel she does show how she uses this technique! I watched it before trying it! I wanted to add a little extra shine, so I used Stickles in gold and placed this in the center of each flower and added gold glitter on top! It’s super sparkly in person! I then chose the Birthday sentiment from – Gingko Greetings – Unity Stamp Company. I heat embossed this in gold on black cardstock. I adhered my card together and foam mounted my sentiment! I hope this card will brighten someone’s birthday!

NEW Release and Birthday SALE – Unity Stamp Company

Hi friends! Hope you are doing well! It has been very hot here the last 3 days! Which means I did have a bit of extra crafty time! I am super excited to be able to share 3 cards with you using some of the NEW RELEASE at Unity Stamp Company! This new release is beautiful and so much fun! Here is a link to all the new arrivals. Unity is also celebrating their birthday with a site wide SALE.

Let’s get started with 3 of the new stamps released. My first card is using the set Aging Gorgeously – July 2020 Sentiment Kit

For this card I chose to watercolor using my Peerless Watercolors. I love the bold colors in this set. I used the following colors: Jackqueminot Red, Mauve, and Chrome Green Deep. I used 2 layers of color on this floral image. Once my watercoloring was complete I set this aside to dry. A few weeks back I had a fun afternoon and made several backgrounds using alcohol inks and glitter. I tried something different, I placed the alcohol ink on my glass mat, added glitter, placed photo paper on top, then used my brayer. I was excited to see it work. It was a fun way to use the inks, along with photo paper.

I wanted to add a little more dimension to the card. I used a Gina Marie Designs Die – Slanted Brick Background die. I adhered the alcohol background to this die cut and then adhered it to my card base. I fussy cut the floral image and adhered this with foam tape. I then chose this beautiful sentiment from the kit and adhered this with foam tape. I love the added dimension! This set has so many beautiful birthday sentiments – I hope you will check it out!

For my second card I am using the set Words in Bloom. This set was illustrated by my dear friend Sandhya Iyer. When I first saw this set I wanted to create a set of notecards! I think this set would also make a beautiful slimline card, or even added to the outside of an envelope! So many beautiful possibilities with this set!

I started by stamping each of the floral words in this set – you will see each flower has a different sentiment on the stem: Hello, Blessed, Believe, Hope, and Kindness. I did simple coloring on each of the floral images for these cards using my Tombow markers. I then added some Glitter on each floral using Brea Reese liquid glitter. I die cut each floral using a Hero Arts rectangle die and then matted these on black cardstock. To create the background I used the Faithful Letter Background Stamp – Unity Stamp Company. I stamped these on a kraft card base. I wanted to soften the background a bit, I used distress oxide in: Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain, and of course some gold splatter. I added die cut leaves in coordinating colors to each card. Foam mounted the floral panels and my card was complete.

For my last card I am using the beautiful new Succulent Border Background, also illustrated by Sandhya Iyer. I love background stamps! I truly love to color, but wanted to showcase another way to use a background stamp today! Background stamps are so versatile and can be used in so many ways!

Once my image was stamped, I taped the watercolor card stock down to a wood board. I then took out my Nuvo shimmer powders! These are so fun to work with, I love all the different colors within one bottle! I used the colors: Golden Sparkle, Catherine Wheel, and Green Parade. I added a bit of each color to the stamped image and then sprayed water. It’s so fun to see the colors come alive! I have learned it is best to let the colors dry. Initially it looks a bit messy, but it does come together!

Once my panel was dry I did add a bit of color using my zig clean color brush markers. I added colors in different areas to add more interest! I then die cut my panel 2x using a rectangle die cut. I used a foam background under the center panel to add more dimension. I adhered these to my card base. I then die cut a Congrats sentiment 3 times (2x in black and 1x in gold) and stacked these together. I then chose the Celebrating You sentiment from the Aging Gorgeously – July 202 Sentiment Kit , foam mounted this and added a few gold sequins! I hope you like this one too and give this idea a try!

Unity is also celebrating their birthday with an AMAZING site wide sale, as well as a few new crafty products on their store! I hope you will check it out! Here are just a few links:

So Very Grateful – Unity Stamp Company

Hi everyone – I hope you have had a good weekend and are doing well! I am so grateful for my family, my health, friends, and my hobby. I have found my hobby to be so relaxing and a way to unwind after a busy, stressful day! Coloring for me is a way to relax. What do you enjoy doing to relax? Today I am using a gorgeous floral cluster from the April Kit of the Month – Unity Stamp Company. I recently became a subscriber to their monthly kit! I can’t believe the amount of stamps in the kit – it is AMAZING! You can see the subscriptions here – Unity Stamp Company Subscriptions.

I started by stamping the large floral cluster in each corner on Bristol Smooth card stock. I am using Vera Fine Ink – black, as I will be using my Zig markers today. The image has a pot below the floral cluster, but I chose to use the flowers only for today’s card. I was inspired by a color pallet I found, it was pinks, blues, and a peach color. I loved the colors. You can see a list of the colors I used below.

When my coloring was complete I used 2 different rectangle dies. I used a pierced rectangle die to create a pattern around the outside of the card. This die does not cut a rectangle, it adds interest. I then used a Hero Arts rectangle die to cut a center rectangle. I then adhered this rectangle on foam to raise up the center panel a bit. I then glued the outer rectangle frame on a card base, then glued down the center. I added splatter to my card using my zig markers. I wanted the splatters to pick up on the colors from my florals. I used a sentiment So very Grateful -Unity Stamp Company. This was a recent freebie from a recent order- isn’t it beautiful!

Thank you for stopping by! I am listing all the products I have used below. You can click on any of the links I have shared if you are interested in purchasing the products. The products listed are a compensated affiliate link, which means if you make a purchase I receive a small commission with no extra cost to you. I really appreciate your support.

I used several layers to add the color and depth to my florals. Once my coloring was complete I added splatters in several colors that are within my card.

To complete my card I added a sentiment from Hero Arts (Sending you Sunshine and Laughter) and the Hugs die is from (Simon Says Stamp). I layered this using a pink and black card stock). To compelte the card I adhered this to a black card panel.

Thankful for You – Brutus Monroe

Hi everyone – How are you doing? I hope this post finds you doing well and healthy. I wanted to share a new card with you – I am thankful for you, your friendship, and your crafty support! It truly means so much to me! Coloring is truly an outlet for me and it relaxes me! My card today is using the stencil of the month from Brutus Monroe – Wood Slice. I love this stencil, it is full of many possibilities! If you love stencils, you may want to consider joining the stencil of the month club! How fun!

For today’s card I am using the stencil of the month, as well as the beautiful Love you Floral stamp set from Brutus Monroe. I love this stamp set! Check it out…. I used one corner of the stamp for this piece. I inked up one corner using Brutus Monroe Detail Raven ink. I love the crisp stamped image I get using this ink! I colored in my florals using my zig clean color brush markers. I then added details to the nooks and crannies using my Arteza colored pencils.

I then created a mask for the one corner floral image and placed the stencil on top of my panel. I used a combination of antique linen and Vintage photo distress oxide inks to add color to my stencil. I used my blending brushes. I concentrated the darker color on the bottom corner and went in with the lighter color as I got closer to the flowers. I then added metallic gold splatters to the panel and set it aside to dry.

I chose the Thankful for You sentiment from the amazing set – Super Sentimental, Brutus Monroe. I inked the sentiment on a piece of vellum in Detail Raven Ink and heat embossed it using a clear embossing powder. I then adhered the vellum sentiment strip to the card panel. I used clear tape on the back and did add small amounts of clear glue behind the black sentiment words. I added stickles in gold to the top right floral image for added sparkles!

I hope you enjoyed this card! I am thankful for you and your support! It means so much to me! I wish you a good and healthy week! Crafty Hugs,

Natasha
